TL;DR: Great news for sports publishers: Mentionlink now links the jerseys, apparel and collectibles mentioned in your content to Fanatics. Why sports content needs a sports store¶

A game recap mentions a player's breakout performance, a trade analysis mentions a star's new team, and a draft preview mentions the rookies everyone will want on their back by the start of the season. How it works¶
Nothing changes in how you use Mentionlink. When a visitor opens a page, Mentionlink finds the products mentioned or shown, and can now match sports merchandise to Fanatics alongside Amazon Associates and the other programs you use.
Behind the scenes, Mentionlink searches the Fanatics catalog:
- Tracking links out of the box. Every product link is already a Fanatics affiliate tracking link, so sales are attributed without any link building on your side.
- In stock only. Products Fanatics has sold out of are skipped, so readers never land on a dead end.
- The right catalog for each reader. Visitors in the US and Canada are matched to products sold in US dollars, and visitors in the UK to products sold in pounds.
Built for jerseys¶
A jersey is not just a team and a color: it is a specific player's name and number. When a jersey appears in one of your photos, Mentionlink reads the number and the nameplate off the jersey itself and searches by team, name and number, so readers land on the right player's jersey rather than a teammate's.
And when the player's own jersey is not available, for example because the nameplate is out of frame or Fanatics does not carry that player, Mentionlink falls back to a Fanatics custom jersey of the same team, which the reader can personalize with any name and number.
