Product cards now show live Amazon prices and deals

TL;DR: Mentionlink product cards now show what each product costs right now, such as "$47 at Amazon", refreshed at least once a day. When an item is on sale, the card also shows the original price struck through, the percent saved and Amazon's deal badge, such as "Limited time deal". It arrives just in time for the holiday season, from Thanksgiving and Black Friday through Cyber Monday and the gift-giving weeks after, when readers are hunting for deals. There is nothing to set up, and you never have to edit a post again because a price changed.

Why prices belong on product cards

A price answers the first question most readers have about a product they just read about: can I afford it? A card that only shows a photo and a name leaves that question for later, and later often means never. A card that says "$47 at Amazon" tells the reader exactly what to expect before they click, so the readers who do click are the ones ready to buy.

Prices are also the part of an article that ages the fastest. The $129 blender in last year's gift guide may cost $99 today, or be on sale for $79 this week. A price typed into a post by hand is correct for a few days at most, and keeping hundreds of posts up to date by hand is not realistic. Product cards solve this by fetching the price for you.

What a card shows

Each product card shows the product photo and name, followed by the price and the store:

Situation What the card shows
Regular price The current price and store, e.g. "$47 at Amazon"
On sale The sale price in red, the original price struck through, "Save 20%", and the deal badge, such as "Limited time deal", on the photo
No price available "Check price at Amazon", so the card never shows a wrong number

Here is what a card looks like for an item on sale, drawn live by the same endpoint that renders the cards on your pages:

A product card for a teal ceramic coffee mug on sale for $18.99 at Amazon, with the original price of $29.99 struck through, "Save 37%" and a "Limited time deal" badge on the photo

The mug is a demo listing made up for this post, so the card does not link to a real product.

Sales only appear while they are real: when Amazon reports that an offer is discounted from a higher price. Once the sale ends, the next refresh removes the struck-through price, the savings and the badge, and the card goes back to the regular price.

How prices stay fresh

Mentionlink gets prices directly from Amazon, through the same API Amazon provides to its associates, and never by scraping pages.

  • Refreshed at least once a day. Every product shown on a card is checked against Amazon again every day, so no price is ever more than a day out of date.
  • New condition only. Prices come from new offers, so a card never advertises the price of a used or refurbished item.
  • No gaps. If Amazon does not return a product during a refresh, the card keeps the last price it had instead of going blank, and tries again shortly after.
  • No impact on page speed. Each card is a single, cached image drawn on our servers, so showing prices costs your page no extra scripts or rendering work.

Why this matters for publishers

Readers trust prices they can rely on. A reader who clicks a card that says $47 and lands on a page that says $47 is a reader who keeps clicking your recommendations. Deals help even more: a struck-through price and a "Limited time deal" badge give readers a reason to buy today rather than bookmark the article and forget it.

Just in time for the holidays

The holiday season is when prices move the most. Thanksgiving falls on November 26 this year, and Black Friday on November 27, followed by Cyber Monday on November 30. Amazon's deals come and go throughout these weeks, and readers come to your gift guides and roundups ready to buy.

With dynamic pricing, every card in those guides keeps up on its own. When a product goes on sale for Black Friday, its card shows the deal, and when the sale ends, the card goes back to the regular price. Your holiday content stays accurate through the busiest shopping weeks of the year, without you touching a single post.

And remember that every click on an Amazon link starts a session that can earn commission on the reader's whole cart, not just the product on the card; see our post on Amazon Associates' April 2026 update.
